A judge released her under strict conditions, including bans on casino visits, online gambling, and unmonitored internet use, while the case proceeds in Alexandria federal court.
   

• Man pleads guilty in a spree of violent armed carjackings in DC, Maryland and Virginia (wusa9.com) — Residents should know a man has pleaded guilty in federal court after a violent carjacking spree that included two armed incidents in Falls Church, on South Jefferson Street and Columbia Pike. Prosecutors say he and accomplices targeted drivers and pedestrians at gunpoint across D.C., Maryland and Virginia, with sentencing set for early 2027.
   

• Accused Murderer Leaves Northern Virginia Mental Health Facility and Boards One-Way International Flight (northernvirginiamag.com) — A man previously found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute in Falls Church left on a 48-hour pass and instead flew overseas on a one-way ticket. His departure has triggered escape status and warrants, raising fresh questions about how Virginia grants unescorted passes from secure mental health facilities.
