City of Falls Church Fire Official Henry Lane said the cause was likely a space heater plugged into an electrical power strip. In light of the fire, Lane urges residents to plug space heaters directly into an outlet, not a power strip.
The fire caused lane closures around South Oak Street south of West Broad Street Monday. Parents and visitors to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School were asked to use the school's rear entrance.
