Weather This Week: Unseasonably Warm, Then Chance of Snow

With cold temps for the past few weeks that suggested snow might be right around the corner, the latest National Weather Service forecast says snow might be just around the corner. But, not before we get up into the 70s on Monday in Northern Virginia.

That talk of possible snow on Wednesday, one of the biggest travel days of the year? The Capital Weather Gang says: “In the mid-to-late afternoon, wet snow is likely, but may mix with and/or alternate with rain along and east of I-95. Some snow accumulation is possible, especially the farther west of I-95 you go.”

Here’s the forecast for Falls Church, according to the NWS.

Monday

• Partly sunny, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Monday Night

• Partly cloudy, with a low around 47.

Tuesday

• Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.

Tuesday Night

• A slight chance of rain and snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Wednesday

• Rain before 2pm, then rain and snow. High near 40. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Wednesday Night

• Rain and snow before 8pm, then a chance of snow. Low around 31. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Thanksgiving Day

• A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night

• A chance of snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
