Missing Man Found Dead Near Home
Investigators still seeking information in the case, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

A body recovered Saturday morning in Fredericksburg has been identified as a man reported missing by his family on March 27.
Fredericksburg City Police had issued an alert Wednesday in hopes that the public could help locate Jerry Stewart.

Stewart’s body was discovered Saturday in a dense wooded area along Blue Grey Parkway, within a mile from his home in the Mayfield subdivision.

The 51-year-old had been last seen leaving his home early March 26, intending to take a bus to Planet Fitness. He never arrived at the gym. Stewart had been diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic. He did not have any of his medications with him.
The medical examiner’s office in Richmond is expected to determine the cause and manner of death, according to police.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Mr. Stewart. We were all hoping for his safe return home,” said Chief David W. Nye.
