Social Media Campaign To Promote Historic Downtown Fredericksburg
Non-profit group: #LOVEFXBG to celebrate Valentine's Day

Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. (FVMS) is launching its newest campaign just in time for Valentine’s Day. The #LOVEFXBG campaign will highlight special deals and events downtown for the romantic holiday and all the things that visitors love about the city’s historic district.
The #LOVEFXBG campaign has several fun aspects, including the special social media hashtag of the title, specialty cards to highlight visitors’ and residents’ favorite things in Fredericksburg, and a specially commissioned sculpture by a local artist that will move around downtown on Valentine’s weekend for photo opportunities.
“We are very excited to kick off this next campaign for the Main Street,” said Ann Glave, executive director of Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc., in a press rfelease. “Our promotions committee, led by local businessman Brian Lam, developed this effort to highlight all of the wonderful things about our historic downtown and encourage visitors, shoppers, residents, business owners and others to share their favorite things to the world.”
The centerpiece is the hashtag #LOVEFXBG for social networks, where all of the news about the effort will be found. Local merchants, restaurants and businesses are encouraged to highlight their sales, plans and specials for Valentine’s Day using the hashtag. Also, visitors and residents can use the hashtag to talk about their favorite places, activities and things about Fredericksburg.
The campaign will encourage participation with specially designed cards that will feature the work of local artist Gabriel Pons. Visitors and shoppers will use the cards to place on their favorite places and things for pictures and sharing on their social networks.
In addition, FVMS is commissioning a sculpture by local artist Kevin Rodrigue of the #LOVEFXBG letters as an homage to the popular Virginia “LOVE” signs found across the state. It will be unveiled the weekend of Valentine’s Day. At the end of the campaign, the sculpture will be auctioned with 50 percent of the proceeds going to FVMS and 50 percent to the artist.
