• Family Practice leaving hospital after Valley Health contract terminated (nvdaily.com) — Front Royal Family Practice is leaving Warren Memorial Hospital and reopening July 1 at its former 140 W. 11th St. location, with longer hours and plans for expanded services. After Valley Health ended their teaching contract, the long-running practice is refocusing on independent primary care while still hoping for some future teaching role. 
• 2 Extinct-in-the-Wild Chicks Hatch at Smithsonian's Front Royal Campus (northernvirginiamag.com) — Front Royal’s Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute has welcomed two extremely rare sihek chicks, a species now extinct in the wild. The first-time parents, Antonio and Poki, carry underrepresented genes, making these hatchlings especially valuable to the global Sihek Recovery Program and highlighting Front Royal’s role in international wildlife conservation.
• Beatrice Ann Murphy Oakes (1941 – 2026) (royalexaminer.com) — Front Royal is mourning the passing of lifelong resident Beatrice “Bea” Oakes, 85, whose funeral will be held June 2 at Maddox Funeral Home on West Main Street. A Warren County High graduate and Front Royal United Methodist Church member, Bea was known for her devotion to family, handcrafted gifts, and community involvement. Friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her life.
