• NAACP Warren-Page Branch Announces Fall Meetings and November Election (royalexaminer.com) — NAACP Warren-Page Branch members in Front Royal should mark several key dates this fall, starting with a Sept. 5 meeting at Samuels Public Library on Criser Road. That session will form the Nominating Committee, followed by an October nominations meeting and a Nov. 7 electronic election for officers and Executive Committee members, all requiring current memberships by specific deadlines. 
• TGI Fridays Wins Sheriff's Office Foundation's First ‘Battle of the Bites' (royalexaminer.com) — A recent month-long “Battle of the Bites” fundraiser at Riverton Commons restaurants ended with TGI Fridays honored in Front Royal during National Night Out. • 3 Red Panda Cubs Born at Smithsonian's Conservation Biology Institute (northernvirginiamag.com) — Three endangered red panda cubs were recently born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute’s closed-to-the-public Front Royal campus, with two from Sequoia and Mow Mow and one from Keahi and Rocket. Keepers are using cameras and cooler indoor spaces to reduce stress on the new mothers as SCBI works to protect this declining species, while another adult red panda remains on view in DC.
