Board of Visitors members approve six-year operating plan and get updates on AI, Grand Challenge Initiative, quantum, enrollment and athletics (gmu.edu) — George Mason University's Board of Visitors has approved a six-year operating plan and heard updates on enrollment, research, and athletics that will shape campus life in George Mason and across its Virginia locations. Leaders outlined "George Mason 2036" priorities, new quantum and AI initiatives, strong fundraising progress, and a record-setting women's basketball program, along with plans for a new Basketball Academic Performance Center breaking ground October 20.
   

5. 'JIMMY' premiere leads Washington West Film Festival (fairfaxtimes.com) — Film fans near George Mason can catch the Washington West Film Festival at Reston Town Center this weekend, featuring a student showcase from George Mason University alongside major premieres. The festival runs October 8–12, pairs independent films with filmmaker Q&As, and donates all net box office proceeds to charities supporting military families and veterans.
