Route 1 Accident: Motorcycle Driver Identified; Investigation Continues
Update: Police continue to investigate a Route 1 crash that killed a motorcycle driver in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County.
(Updated 11 a.m. Monday) ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Police continue to investigate the Friday accident that killed a motorcycle driver in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The motorcycle driver hit a truck on Route 1 (Richmond Highway) at Hollyhill Road.
Around 4:30 p.m., the driver was traveling at a high speed and hit the truck, which was turning into the Cherry Hill Apartment complex. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and impaled on the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the truck were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was identified as Kwaune Marshall, 25, of Alexandria. Police say he was driving a stolen Honda motorcycle. Police say speed could be a contributing factor to the accident. Detectives are investigating whether alcohol was involved.
