Area Resident Struck and Killed by Car in King George County

An Alexandria man, Matthew F. Thompson, 37, died Monday evening after being struck by a car while crossing Route 301 in King George County, Va. The crash occurred at approximately 6:57 P.M. on Route 301 1/10 mile north of Commerce Drive.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.

A Virginia State trooper’s investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevrolet car was traveling north on Route 301 when the vehicle struck Thompson, when he ran out in front of traffic.

The driver of the 2014 Chevrolet was Edward J. Charron, Jr., 46, of Waldorf, Md. Charron, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

There are no charges in connection with the crash.
