Bullet Hits Home, Stolen Vehicle Found: Route 1 Corridor Police Report
The latest police report for the Richmond Highway corridor includes a theft from KinderCare, stolen vehicle recovery and more incidents.

HUNTINGTON, VA — Fairfax County Police responded to various notable incidents in the Richmond Highway corridor recently, including a bullet striking a residence, stolen vehicle recovery and more.
The shooting into a residence happened last Tuesday, Aug. 9 in the 2000 block of Blunt Lane in Huntington. The victim had woken up to the sound of broken glass, and police found a bullet fragment on the victim's floor that likely caused the damage. The victim was not injured.
Another incident Patch reported last week was the theft of food from KinderCare at 4287 Buckman Road in the Woodlawn area. Police responded to the day care center on Monday, Aug. 8 due to thousands of dollars worth of food being stolen. Police bought breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks so the children wouldn't be without food that day. Police have not yet identified a suspect.

In the area of Richmond Highway and Dawn Drive in Belle Haven, a stolen vehicle was recovered. On Monday Aug. 8 around 8:22 a.m., police attempted a traffic stop on a BMW reported stolen from another jurisdiction. Police say the driver did not stop, drove further and jumped out of the moving vehicle. The vehicle rolled into a tree in the 2400 block of Dawn Drive in Belle Haven.

Commercial Burglary: 8330A Richmond Highway (Tobacco & Vape Palace), Woodlawn, Aug. 10, 3:37 a.m. Someone forced entry into the business. Nothing was reported to be taken.
Commercial robbery: 6241 Richmond Highway (Citgo), Belle Haven, Aug. 11, 1:15 a.m. Two men and a woman approached the kiosk. One man demanded money, threatened to harm the employee, then took merchandise. No injuries were reported.
Robbery: 7900 block of Richmond Highway, Hybla Valley, Aug. 11, 8:31 a.m. A man and the victim got into an argument. The man assaulted the victim, took his property and left. This does not appear to be a random act.
