Fairfax Recreation Centers, Indoor Pools To Reopen In Phases
Facilities will initially operate with timed entry for workouts and indoor swimming.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA ā The Fairfax County Park Authority will continue the gradual return of amenities with the reopening of its nine recreation centers (RECenters) in July. With the region in phase three of the governor's Forward Virginia reopening plan, RECenters will reopen to the public over several weeks.
The first openings will be the Lee District, Oak Marr and Spring Hill RECenters on July 13, followed by Audrey Moore, Cub Run and South Run RECenters on July 20. The George Washington, Mount Vernon, and Providence RECenters will reopen on July 27. Members of RECenters can access any of the nine facilities.
The experience will look different due to the coronavirus. There will be health screening for COVID-19 symptoms before entry, a reservation requirement, time limits for visits and less equipment with spacing between each. Face coverings are required when not actively exercising.

Fitness centers and indoor pools will have timed entry restrictions for individual workouts, lap swimming and water walking. Drop-in exercise and other classes will resume later, as well as racquetball and basketball courts.
The park authority is also opening visitor centers, nature centers and historic properties with restrictions during phase three. Buildings of historic sites have been closed, while grounds are open. The equestrian ring at Frying Pan Farm Park, and the observatory at The Turner Farm will open "as conditions allow."
