FBI To Investigate Police-Involved Shooting On GW Parkway
The investigation comes as few details have been made public about the police-involved shooting that critically injured a man.

(Updated 1:24 p.m.) FORT HUNT, VA—The FBI is investigating the police-involved shooting that critically injured a driver near the George Washington Memorial Parkway over the weekend.
On Friday, Nov. 17, U.S. Park Police were pursuing a suspect involved in a crash near Slaters Lane and the GW Parkway in the City of Alexandria around 7:30 p.m. Police say the driver left the scene of the accident, leading to a pursuit ending at Fort Hunt Road and Alexandria Avenue in Fairfax County.
Few details are known about the incident other than two officers shot at the driver. The driver went to the hospital in critical condition. His identity has not been released, and officials have not said why the shots were fired, The Washington Post reports. No police officers were injured, and the suspect was alone in his car.

The FBI’s Washington Field Office said in a statement it “will ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fair, thorough and impartial manner."
Fairfax County Police Chief Ed Roessler said two of his officers were on scene but did not fire their weapons. "Our agency has turned over our evidence in this case, in-car videos, to the federal authorities conducting the investigation into the [U.S. Park Police]," Roessler said in a statement.
