MOUNT VERNON, VA — Students headed back to school at Fairfax County Public Schools Monday, and others will return in the coming days.

A tradition for some families is taking a photo on the first day of school each year and comparing them from kindergarten to 12th grade. We want to see your first day photos from schools in the Route 1 corridor (think Fort Hunt, Mount Vernon, Belle Haven, Hybla Valley and Groveton).

Send your photo submissions with your student's name, school and grade to Emily.Leayman@patch.com. Please only share photos you took. By sharing photos, you are giving Patch permission to publish your photos in our first day of school coverage.
