Sunday Fire In Hybla Valley Injures 1 Resident, Displaces About 17
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said a fire at a garden-style apartment building displaced around 17 residents.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — A resident was injured in an apartment fire Sunday in Hybla Valley, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. An estimated 17 residents were displaced as a result.
Around 7:58 a.m., units responded to the 2600 block of Arlington Drive, a garden-style apartment building. Fire was showing from the third level extending into the attic. A second alarm was requested.
There were 25 residents in the building at the time of the fire. A resident of a neighboring building observed fire showing on the third floor balcony. A fire alarm pull station was activated in the building as well.

One resident was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Units got the fire under control and continued to tackle hot spots.
According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, around 17 residents were displaced. Red Cross and the Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management and Security are assisting the displaced residents.

Investigators determined improperly discarded smoking materials started the fire on an apartment balcony. Estimated damages were $166,000.
