Hybla Valley Fire Displaces 2 Residents: Fire Department
Two residents went to the hospital for an evaluation, but there were no firefighter injuries, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — Two people went to the hospital and were displaced due to a house fire in Hybla Valley Saturday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Units responded around 2:03 a.m. to a single-family home in the 7400 block of Northrop Road. Firefighters worked quickly to put out an exterior fire that extended into the attic. The fire was contained to the attic.
The fire was discovered by a passerby. Both residents were asleep and woke to the smoke alarm sounding. The two residents were taken to the hospital for a check-up. There were no firefighters injured.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be improperly discarded oil-based wood stain rags. The fire started on the exterior of the home. The fire department estimated damages to be $80,100.
The displaced residents declined Red Cross assistance.
