Hybla Valley Shootings Lead To First Homicide Of 2022 In Fairfax County
A man was fatally shot during a fight at a bus stop, and another was injured when the suspect sought a ride, according to police.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — A suspect has been charged after two separate shootings that killed one person and injured another in Hybla Valley Saturday, Fairfax County Police say. This was the first homicide of 2022 in Fairfax County.
Both shootings happened near Richmond Highway Saturday. The incidents started with a fight at a bus stop at Richmond Highway and Dart Drive, police say. Officers responded around 6:22 p.m. and found a victim with an upper body gunshot wound. The victim went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead. He was identified as Kebbren Isaiah Leigh-Gaye, 18, of Alexandria.
Police say the suspect fled after the shooting and approached a driver in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 3100 Lockheed Boulevard. When the suspect requested a ride, the driver refused. According to police, the suspect fired one round, which struck the victim in the eye. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers found the suspect in the parking lot of Taco Bell at 7230 Richmond Highway and arrested him. Jordan Eugene Cochran, 20, of Alexandria was charged with second degree murder, two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, malicious wounding and robbery. A handgun and other items belonging to Cochran were recovered by police.

Police believe Leigh-Gaye and Cochran knew each other. Detectives are looking into the motive of the shooting.
