Man Charged In Assault Leading To Woman's Death In Hybla Valley

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — Fairfax County Police have charged a man in the death of a woman resulting from an assault at a Richmond Highway bus stop on June 17.

The victim, Michelle Huntley, 63, of Alexandria, had been found with upper body trauma at a bus stop in the 7800 block of Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley, according to police. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died this past Saturday. WTOP reported Huntley was homeless and had been sheltering in the bus stop.

On Monday, an officer spotted the suspect wearing similar clothes as the night of the assault. Detectives responded and determined the man was the suspect who allegedly assaulted the victim, according to police.

The man, Chante Antonio Jones, 32, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and was held without bond. Charges may be amended as the medical examiner determines the cause and manner of Huntley's death.
