Mount Vernon Fire Station Benefits From Donated Grill
A Fort Hunt hardware store provided a new grill that fire station personnel can use to make meals throughout the work day.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — A Fort Hunt-based business served up a special donation to the Mount Vernon Fire Station minutes away in Hybla Valley.
Village Hardware, a family-run hardware store on Fort Hunt Road, donated a new Weber Genesis II grill to the Mount Vernon Station at 2601 Sherwood Hall Lane. The grill will help the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel cook breakfast, lunch and dinner during their shifts.
Store Manager Angie Headd and Grillmaster Jim Carmalt presented the grill to the fire station.

Customers can find a variety of home products at Village Hardware, from paint and plumbing equipment to outdoor power equipment, power tools and lawn care items. The Weber grills like the one the fire station received are a timely addition as outdoor grilling season heats up.
But it would be remiss not to mention Fairfax County's fire safety tips related to outdoor grilling. The county's fire code prohibits use of open-flame cooking devices on balconies and decks of apartment buildings and multi-unit condominiums and within 15 feet of residential buildings. While single-family homes, two-family homes and townhouses are exempt, the county recommends against using these types of cooking devices on balconies or decks.
