Mount Vernon High Crew Club Turns To Virtual Fundraising
The crew club, which rows at Fort Belvoir Marina, has experienced fundraising challenges due to COVID-19.

MOUNT VERNON, VA ā Mount Vernon High School Crew is hitting the waters for the season, but it needs help replacing needed supplies.
The crew club, a rowing team that rows out of Fort Belvoir Marina, turned to GoFundMe to replace boat racks and sheds. Because the team is completely funded by students, parents and boosters, it relies heavily on fundraising. The Mount Vernon Crew Boosters even provides scholarships to students who cannot afford to pay the costs associated with rowing. But the team says fundraising has been restricted due to COVID-19.
The fundraiser, which has a goal of $20,000, will go toward new boat racks and sheds for the high school rowing team. The boat racks are described as 15 or more years old. The team hopes to replace the boat racks and sheds before the next season starts.
