New Coronavirus Impact To Close George Washington's Mount Vernon
The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association announced the closure will last through the end of March.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — George Washington's Mount Vernon will close to visitors beginning Saturday, March 14 in light of the new coronavirus outbreak. The closure will be in effect through the end of the month (Tuesday, March 31).
The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association announced the decision Friday "to ensure the safety of our visitors, our staff and volunteers and their families." The closure applies to the mansion, grounds, museum, library, retail shopping facilities and dining facilities.

Visitors who have tickets for general admission, special events or group reservations during the March 14 to 31 closing can reschedule their visits for a later date or direct questions to Mount Vernon at 703-780-2000 or ticketing@mountvernon.org.

Mount Vernon is among other DC area landmarks closing visitors amid new coronavirus concerns, including the White House, Capitol, Smithsonian museums and National Zoo.
The Mount Vernon estate will keep visitors engaged through digital tours of the estate on Facebook and Youtube over the next two weeks. The Washington Library has prepared resources for education purposes at mountvernon.org/digital.
