Police: Two-Car Accident Reported on Richmond Highway Wednesday
Northbound Route 1 was completely blocked Wednesday's afternoon, as Fairfax County Police Department and Fairfax Fire and Rescue directed traffic around the crash.

Update - The accident was cleared up just before Wednesday's rush hour. Police have not released information on the cause of the accident near the intersection of Sherwood Hall Lane and Richmond Highway.

According to FCPD, the northbound lanes are no longer blocked by the crash scene. The roads were cleared around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Fairfax County police and Fire and Rescue departments responded to a two-car accident on Richmond Highway in the northbound lanes around 2:33 p.m. Wednesday.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Sherwood Hall Lane and Richmond Highway near the Walmart and the future location of Costco.
According to the FCPD Public Information Office, police officers are currently still directing traffic onto Sherwood Hall Lane and the northbound lanes on Route 1 are blocked at this time.
A towing company is on scene to remove the cars from the road in order for motorists to continue in their travels. No injuries were repored at the time of the incident.
