Problem At Huntington Metro Delays Riders After Shutdown Ends
Huntington riders encountered delays when an issue arose Tuesday morning.

HUNTINGTON, VA — A problem at the Huntington Metro station delayed morning commutes on the second day since the summer-long shutdown ended.
According to tweets from riders, a disabled train on the Huntington platform was not able to leave the station Tuesday morning. Bringing a new train to the other side of the track wasn't an option, because riders are only boarding from one side of the platform as construction work continues at the station.
Metro ultimately removed the disabled train from the track and got trains moving again. But the disruption to service had some riders longing for the buses that served as an alternative during the Metro shutdown.

Train at Huntington is not working and only one side of the track is open. Effectively stuck. Not great for 2nd day of operation at the "new and improved station". #Metro #DMV @unsuckdcmetro pic.twitter.com/S33yiChA4F

Along with trains running on only one side of the platform, other construction impacts remain at Huntington. Crews continue to install non-slip tile in the mezzanine areas, and the fare vending machine at the Huntington North entrance won't be available for about three weeks. The walkway between the Huntington north garage and Huntington 3 middle garage also remains closed.
