Richmond Homicide, I-95 Pursuit Lead To Charges For Alexandria Man
An Alexandria man wanted in a Richmond shooting was arrested after a pursuit into the Route 1 area of Fairfax County.

RICHMOND, VA — An Alexandria man is facing charges after a Richmond shooting followed by a pursuit up Interstate 95 Sunday, according to Richmond and state law enforcement.
Around 10:28 p.m. Sunday, Richmond Police responded to the 1300 block of West Main Street for a shooting. Police found a man with an apparent gunshot wound lying on the patio of a business. The man, identified as Kyle Stoner, 36, of Richmond, was pronounced dead at the scene. A women and another man were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
State police got involved with the pursuit after spotting a Toyota 4Runner speeding on northbound I-95 around 11:01 p.m. Sunday. According to state police, the vehicle was traveling at 101 mph in a 70 mph zone, leading a state trooper to attempt a traffic stop near the 127 mile marker in Spotsylvania County. When the driver did not stop, a pursuit started through Stafford County into Prince William County, which involved the suspect vehicle going above 100 mph and passing vehicles on the shoulder, police say.

The vehicle exited I-95 at exit 161 in Lorton and headed north on Route 1. Upon attempting a turn onto Sacramento Drive in the Woodlawn area, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a utility pole and a tree, police say.
The driver was taken into police custody and taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries from the crash. Derrick R. Adjei, 24, of Alexandria, was charged with one felony count of eluding police and for reckless driving. State police also found a firearm from the Toyota.

After further investigation, state police got in touch with Richmond Police about the homicide investigation. Richmond Police charged Adjei with malicious wounding, and other charges are pending.
Adjei was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail.
