Shooting Injures Man In Huntington, Person In Custody: Police

HUNTINGTON, VA — Fairfax County Police have a person in custody after a man was shot Wednesday in Huntington.

Before 2 p.m., police responded to the 2000 block of Huntington Avenue for a shooting report. Officers found a 33-year-old man with upper body gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Arriving officers were given a description of the suspect and a tip that he may have gone to a nearby hotel, said 2nd Lt. James Curry, a police spokesperson, at a news briefing. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody.

Police continue to conduct interviews, review surveillance footage and work to obtain a search warrant for a hotel room where a gun may be located.

Preliminarily, police believe the shooting followed two men getting into a dispute on the road. Curry said the incident was not believed to be a "road rage" dispute. Police are investigating how the suspect and victim know each other.
