Shooting, Robberies Reported In Mount Vernon District: Police

According to the weekly crime report, the shooting resulted in no injuries, and one robbery caused non-life-threatening injuries.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Fairfax County Police are looking into a number of crimes in the Mount Vernon Police District in the last week, including a shooting that yielded no injuries and three robberies.

The shooting happened on Sept. 25 in the 7900 block of Jana Lee Avenue in the Hybla Valley area. Around 5:25 p.m., police say two people were driving when a group of men shot at them and hit their car. The individuals were not injured, and police could not locate the suspects. Shell casings were found by officers.

Two of the robberies happened at commercial locations. On Sept. 27, a man entered the 7-Eleven at 3100 Lockheed Boulevard and took items without paying. When confronted by an employee, the man implied he had a gun and fled. There were no injuries.

The second robbery involved a 7-Eleven at 6331 South Kings Highway on Sept. 29. Two men entered the store around 11:35 p.m., displayed a gun and took cash and merchandise. No one was injuries.

The third robbery happened on Sept. 30 at the Hampton Inn at 5821 Richmond Highway. Around 2:19 a.m., a man was meeting an acquaintance in the parking lot when two other men approached and assaulted him, took cash, and ran away. The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
