Toys For Tots Collections Begin At Fairfax County Fire Stations

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Fire and Rescue and other sites will be collecting toys for children in need as part of the regional Toys for Tots Campaign. Collections are underway and will continue through Dec. 11.

Toys for Tots is an effort led by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve since 1947 to ensure children in need can feel the joy of unwrapping a toy on Christmas. The campaign draws participation from over 800 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. The Quantico Toys for Tots regional campaign draws participation from collection sites in Fairfax County and other localities in Northern Virginia.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue is collecting toy donations at all of its fire and rescue stations. Collection boxes will be placed outside fire stations in the morning and be available until 8 p.m. daily. Only new, unwrapped toys will be accepted and cannot include toys considered to be weapons. Checks or money orders may be made payable to Toys for Tots. Donations at fire stations will not be accepted past Dec. 11.

Last year, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue collections provided around 25,000 toys to Toys for Tots. The Quantico campaign collectively provided 146,148 toys supporting 145,284 children in 2021.
