Volunteers To Work On Mount Vernon Trail Near Dyke Marsh
Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail regularly holds volunteer events to improve the trail. The latest will focus on Dyke Marsh.

BELLE HAVEN, VA — Volunteers regularly help clean up and maintain the Mount Vernon Trail at different locations through the Friends of Mount Vernon Trail. The latest volunteer event will focus on the Dyke Marsh in Belle Haven Saturday.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., volunteers will be trimming vegetation growing onto the trail in the Dyke Marsh area. Work may also involve cutting tree branches with hand saws, sweeping or using a leaf blower, hauling away vegetation and picking up trash. The work area will be between the Belle Haven Park parking lot and the long boardwalk bridge (Bridge 23) over Dyke Marsh.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, long sleeves and long pants due to possible poison ivy, gloves and pruners. Some gloves and pruners will be available to borrow, and other equipment will be provided to volunteers.
