• State trooper earns Award for Valor in deadly gunfire exchange in Pittsylvania County (godanriver.com) — A Virginia state trooper wounded in a high-speed shootout in Pittsylvania County was treated at Centra Gretna Medical Center and released home just hours later. The chase reportedly reached 136 mph before ending on Deerview Road, where the suspect opened fire with a semi-automatic rifle and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
