Herndon-Based Network Solutions Purchased for $405 Million
The company is a provider of Internet products such as online marketing and domain registration
According to Marketwatch.com, Herndon company Network Solutions was purchased by Web.com.
Web.com, based in Jacksonville, FL, provides Internet services and online marketing services for small and medium businesses. Web.com purchased Network Solutions for $405 million.
Marketwatch says the two companies will combine into a single company. Together they will offer online and direct marketing, web services, ecommerce and more. They will also be the biggest provider of domain name services.

According to the Washington Post, a number of area firms have been bought out the past few months. Network Solutions was founded in 1979.
