• Hopewell Police search property in Prince George for clues in 2011 disappearance (progress-index.com) — Hopewell Police have renewed the search for Ivan Terry II, missing since 2011, by combing a Vulcan Materials property in nearby Prince George County using updated technology and regional partners. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Hopewell Police or Crime Solvers to help bring answers to Terry’s family after 15 years without closure.
   

• Man collapses while being rescued from Appomattox River in Hopewell (progress-index.com) — Emergency crews pulled a man from the Appomattox River near City Park in Hopewell after he collapsed during a rescue and was later listed in critical but stable condition at HCA TriCities Hospital. Hopewell Fire & EMS are urging residents to use life jackets, avoid alcohol or drugs around the water, and never swim alone, especially near mud flats and strong currents.
   

• Petersburg's state senator is new vice chair of Senate Democratic Caucus (progress-index.com) — Hopewell residents are represented by Sen. Lashrecse Aird, who just gained a key leadership role as vice chair of the Virginia Senate Democratic Caucus. From this new post, she’ll help shape legislative strategy and recruit candidates ahead of the 2027 state Senate elections, while continuing to serve on powerful committees that influence local government, finance, education, and transportation.
