Celebrity Attended Local School

John Phillips of The Mamas and the Papas, best known for the song ”California Dreaming,” attended Linton Hall Military School in nearby Bristow from 1942 through 1946. In spite of being successful at academics and sports, he “hated the place” because of discipline and beatings. Since the late 1980s, the school dropped its military program and became a coeducational day school, now known as Linton Hall School.
