Election Results 2014: Comstock to Win District 10 Race
Associated Press calls the open U.S. House seat for Republican.

Considered at one time to be one of the top chances for Democrats to win a seat in the U.S. Congress, Virginia’s 10th District will stay in GOP hands.
Republican Barbara Comstock is expected to win the seat in Tuesday’s election, defeating Fairfax supervisor John Foust. Congressman Frank Wolf, also a Republican, will retire at the end of his term.
The Associated Press called the race just after 9 p.m., with 100 percent of the district reporting, but a strong 56 percent to 40 percent lead for Comstock. See more results.

There was a hope for Democratic momentum after a contentious GOP primary and Foust’s much easier climb to the nomination. But Comstock stuck to consensus-building issues and avoided her more controversial votes in the Statehouse on women’s health and other issues.
Foust worked hard on the campaign trail and diligently framed Comstock as too conservative, but overplayed his hand with a comment suggested Comstock hasn’t had a “real job.” Audio of the statement was played constantly in ads on TV and the radio as the two candidates competed for votes from women.
