Virginia's Unemployment Rate Is Lowest Since 2008: Report
But state is still too dependent on defense spending, governor says

Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced Tuesday that Virginia’s unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level in more than six years.
The jobless rate fell by 0.2 percent in December to a seasonally adjusted 4.8 percent, according tlo the Washington Post.
The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down from 5 percent in November and down from 5.2 percent a year ago, according to the U.S. Labor Department. The national unemployment rate in December was 5.6 percent.
But the governor has warned that with its dependence on defense spending, Virginia’s economy could be rattled by future federal spending cuts.
