McLean Satellite Company Accepts $3.1B Acquisition Deal From Rival
Intelsat SA agreed on Tuesday to be purchased by SES SA for $3.1 billion in cash, according to news reports.
MCLEAN, VA — Two rival satellite communication companies will become one entity, after McLean's Intelsat SA agreed on Tuesday to be purchased by SES SA for $3.1 billion in cash, according to news reports.
The two companies expect to close on the deal in the second half of 2025, according to the Washington Business Journal. The deal will be financed by case and new debts, which would include hybrid bonds.
“Bringing together these two companies, with the associated synergies, will create a stronger multi-orbit operator better able to compete in a fast-moving satellite communications landscape and respond to the evolution of competing communications technologies,” the companies said in an announcement, according to the WBJ.
