5 Tysons Companies Ranked On 2018 Fortune 500

One Tysons-based company was a newcomer to the list of the largest corporations in the U.S.

TYSONS, VA—Five Tysons Corner companies have made the latest Fortune 500 list of the largest corporations in the U.S.

Fortune Magazine ranks the largest corporations by revenue in the annual list. In all, these companies have $12.8 trillion in revenues, $1 trillion in profits and 28.2 million employees worldwide. They make up two-thirds of the country's gross domestic product (GDP). The rankings are based on 2017 revenue.

Tysons-Corner based Freddie Mac's ranking of 38 remained unchanged from last year, as well as Capital One Financial at 101. Other companies making the list are Hilton Worldwide Holdings at 324, DXC Technologies at 374 and Booz Allen Hamilton at 482.

Information technology company DXC Technologies, which was created by the merger of CSC and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, is a newcomer to the list. At No. 374 on the list, it is ranked five spots higher than CSC ranked last year.

Tysons Corner will potentially have another Fortune 500 company later this year. Arconic, a manufacturer of light metal solutions and ranked at 225 on the Fortune 500, will move headquarters from New York City to Tysons Corner.

Fairfax County has nine companies on the Fortune 500 list, the most in the DC area. Another notable ranking comes from Reston-based information technology company Leidos Holdings, which jumped 89 spots to 292. This is the fourth biggest jump on the list.

The other ranked DC area companies are three in Montgomery County, Md., two in Washington, D.C. and one in Arlington County. “The Fortune 500 highlights the fact that Fairfax County is the top location in the Washington area for corporations that want to access the right headquarters talent, the ability to get to markets worldwide conveniently, the proximity to private- and public-sector, take advantage of great public schools here and the cultural and historical attractions of the mid-Atlantic area,” said Gerald L. Gordon, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, in a statement.

  • 374. DXC Technologies: Information technology, Tysons Corner
  • 444. NVR, Home construction, Reston
  • 482. Booz Allen Hamilton: Management consulting, Tysons Corner
