Air Traffic Surveillance Company Expands In Tysons

TYSONS, VA — Aireon, LLC, a company providing air traffic surveillance systems around the world, announced it will expand in Tysons, adding over 50 jobs in the next three years.

Aireon opted to remain in Tysons but move headquarters to different location. It is now headquartered at 8484 Westpark Drive.

"Aireon chose to remain in Fairfax County and expand the headquarters due to its proximity to downtown Washington, D.C., the Federal Aviation Administration and the area’s regional and international airports," said Rich Nyren, chief financial officer of Aireon, in a statement.

Aireon was founded in 2011, and its surveillance system became operational this year. The company has been developing the first-ever, global air traffic surveillance system using a space-based Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast network. This technology is geared toward improving safety, efficiency, predictability and capacity, while reducing overall infrastructure costs.
