Chef and owner Domenico Cornacchia opened Assaggi Osteria in 2009, aiming to bring generations of Italian cooking. Previously the executive chef and partner at Georgetown's Café Milano for over 15 years, Cornacchia previously worked for Sette Bello in Clarendon and Sette Osteria in Dupont Circle. A native of central Italy, Cornacchia honed his skills in cooking beginning at age 12.
"Assaggi means tastings in Italian," Domenico writes on the restaurant's website. "Therefore, the concept of my menu is based on a variety of items that can be ordered in smaller portions and on the same plate."
