Capital Beltway Lane Closures Continue For 3 Weekends In Tysons

On three upcoming weekends, one lane of the Beltway will be closed all weekend and a second lane will be closed overnight.

TYSONS, VA — As bridge joint work continues on the Capital Beltway over bridges in the Tysons area, lane closures will be held for the next three weekends, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced.

The left lane of southbound Interstate 495 (Capital Beltway Outer Loop) will be closed each weekend from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday over the three bridges over Dulles Toll Road. The closures will happen during the weekends of Oct. 15-18, 22-25 and Oct. 29-Nov. 1.

Two lanes of southbound I-495 will be closed nightly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. On all three weekends, two lanes will be closed from 11 p.m. Fridays to 7 a.m. Saturdays, 11 p.m. Saturdays to 7 a.m. Sundays, and 11 p.m. Sundays to 5 a.m. Mondays.

At least two southbound lanes will remain open at all times during the weekends. The southbound I-495 general purpose lanes ramp to the westbound Dulles Toll Road (Exit 45A), and the southbound I-495 ramp to eastbound Route 267 (Exit 45B) will also be open.

VDOT urges drivers to use caution in active work zones and be alert for new traffic patterns.
