Chesterbrook Safeway To Hold Grand Reopening After Renovations

MCLEAN, VA—The Chesterbrook Safeway has a new look after massive renovations and will unveil the updates in a grand reopening Saturday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. The celebration is open to the public.

"We are pleased to share renovations that will enhance the shopping experience for our Chesterbrook neighbors," said Jim Perkins, president of Safeway’s eastern division in a statement. "We have added new features that greatly expand our selections. Our customers are sure to enjoy the newly renovated store."

Among the new features are four new self-checkout counters, Safeway home delivery, Instacart service with RUSH delivery and a new customer service desk to purchase money orders, send money via Western Union and pay bills.

The renovations also bring increased natural and organic products such as frozen foods, dairy products, beer and wine. The deli offers new salad bar, an expanded specialty cheese selection, an olive bar, expanded hot food offerings and a sushi chef.

In the meat and seafood department, the new meat butcher block offers custom-cut meats from Safeway butchers, while the seafood butcher block has a variety of seafood with wild, fresh and organic options.

The produce department has an entirely new refrigeration and display, adding more space for organic and regular offerings, cut fruit and vegetables and a new section for trendy juice brands.

For those with a sweet tooth, the bakery has a new cake case displaying new gourmet cupcakes and a new cream island grab-and-go case with cake slices and cream desserts, a Mochi ice cream case, crusty bread island with artisan bread offerings and more.

The ribbon cutting will feature donations made to Share, Inc. and Langley Residential Support Services, two local community groups. The Herb Scott Duo will provide musical entertainment.

The Chesterbrook Safeway is open from 5 a.m.-midnight daily at 6244 Old Dominion Drive, McLean.
