The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved a motion Tuesday to begin the process of inventorying all public places in the county that have Confederate names as a step toward renaming them. This includes all monuments, street names, recreation centers and parks, as well as all county buildings and properties.

The Republican Senate primary in Virginia wasn't much of a fight, with American University professor Daniel Gade of Alexandria easily defeating Thomas A. Speciale II of Woodbridge and Alissa A. Baldwin of Lunenburg County for the Republican nomination.
City Of Alexandria Bans Guns On Its Property
Alexandria City Council unanimously voted Saturday to ban guns and ammunition on city property. Beginning on July 1, it will be a Class 1 misdemeanor to possess, carry or transport firearms or ammunition in any city-owned or operated building, park or recreational or community facility as well as special events requiring a permit on public streets, roads, alleys, sidewalks or public right of way.
