Driver Caught Fleeing From 2 Hit-And-Runs On I-66

The driver tried to escape on foot after the second crash, leading Virginia State Police on a chase.

A Maryland man has been charged for two hit-and-runs in the area of Interstates 66 and 495 Friday, May 11, Virginia State Police say.

Around 9:25 p.m., the charged driver was driving a Honda Accord west on I-66 when it struck a Toyota 4Runner. The driver fled from the scene and took the exit for I-495.

As the car headed through the exit ramp, it struck a Toyota Camry stopped on the shoulder. The Honda's driver fled on foot, jumped over the jersey wall and ran back toward I-66, police say.

Virginia State Police located and arrested Kyle A. Ridgeway, 27, of Frederick, Md. He was charged with two felony counts of hit and run, DUI and obstruction of justice and is being held at Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.
