Langley Robotics Team To Compete In World Championship

The team was ready to call it a year when they learned they would compete in the world robotics championship.

The Langley High School robotics team will be participating in the robotics world championship in Detroit this week.

The team thought their year was over when they received a wild card entry to the The FIRST Championship on April 25-28 in Detroit. More than 400 teams, including 31 from the DC area, will participate, Peter Swaak, a team captain, told WTOP.

"There are teams from across the world. I know there are few from Canada, a bunch from Europe," said Swaak.

This was the first year Langley won a state event since it was created in 2001. In March, the team won first place at a Maryland robotics competition.
