Mars Eyes Purchase Of Pringles, Pop-Tarts Maker: Report

MCLEAN, VA — McLean-based Mars Inc., the largest private company in the DMV, is in advanced talks to purchase the company that produces Pringles, Cheez-It crackers, Eggo waffles, and Pop-Tarts, according to multiple reports.

The sale of Chicago's Kellanova Co., a public company that was spun off last year from Kellogg Co., could fetch $30 billion, according to the Washington Business Journal.

If the deal comes through, it would be one of the largest acquisitions of 2024. However, it would likely face heavy scrutiny from the Biden administration, which has "brought a heavier hand" in approving merger and acquisition deals, according to WBJ.
