New Crash Map Pinpoints Teen Driver Accidents in McLean
A new crash map released by Fairfax County shows that certain McLean roads were dangerous for teen drivers in 2016.

MCLEAN, VA -- In Fairfax County, 1,840 young drivers were involved in crashes last year, and a number have been in McLean, according to a new crash map.
More accidents appear to be in the west on Georgetown Pike. There are also a number scattered on main roads like Dolley Madison Boulevard and Old Dominion Drive. A large number of crashes happened south of city limits near the Tysons Corner shopping malls.
The county had two fatalities, but neither happened in McLean. In all, 17 percent were injured in teen driver crashes.

Fortunately, in 97 percent of cases, teen drivers were wearing seat belts, and in only 2 percent of cases was alcohol involved. Also, the total number of 17- and 18-year-old drivers involved in crashes has declined by almost 100 occurrences compared to 2015, according to the county.
