Man Thrown Out Of Car In McLean Crash: Police

Thursday's crash left the driver with life-threatening injuries.

One person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries from a crash in McLean Thursday evening, Fairfax County Police say.

Around 2:40 p.m., the driver was heading westbound on Georgetown Pike when he crashed in the 8600 block. Police say he ran off the side of the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle returned to cross over all lanes of traffic and onto the shoulder, ejecting the driver.

The car ended up in the yard, and first responders arrived on scene to take the man to the hospital. No other vehicles appeared to be involved. The crash closed Georgetown Pike between Old Dominion Drive and Towlston Road for some time.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the crash.
