Stolen Car Recovered In Long Chase From Tysons

A traffic violation near Tysons Corner Center escalated into a chase and the recovery of a stolen car.

TYSONS, VA—Authorities recovered a stolen car after a long, multi-county chase for a red light infraction near Tysons Corner Center late Tuesday.

Around 10:45 p.m., a Fairfax County officer observed the suspect run a red light at Fashion Boulevard and Leesburg Pike. Police attempted to pull the car over with no success. The suspect kept driving all the way into Loudoun County, where sheriff's deputies took over the pursuit.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate the vehicle and arrest Abdullah Anwar, 23, of Herndon. He was charged with felony speed to elude, driving with a revoked license and disregarding a red light.

Authorities learned afterward that the suspect's vehicle had previously been reported stolen.
