McLean Murder-Suicide: Boyfriend Calls Police From Texas

Update: A dispatcher call in the McLean murder-suicide shows a boyfriend living in Texas called police.

(Updated 5:50 p.m. July 18) MCLEAN, VA—Fairfax County Police are investigating a murder-suicide in a McLean home Friday. Around 2 p.m., a 911 caller reported someone may have been killed at the 6700 block of Dean Drive.

Police made unsuccessful to contact people in the home, and neighbors were told to stay in their homes. Officers entered the home and discovered two bodies. Detectives determined Helen Lorena Hargan, 23, shot her mother, Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan, 63, and then shot herself.

Autopsies are expected to be completed Saturday.

Police believe there is no threat to the public at this time. A 7-year-old child living at the residence was not there during the incident and is safe with her mother. The home's dogs are also being taken care of.

WUSA reported that the boyfriend of Helen's sister called police from Dallas. According to the TV station, a Fairfax County Police dispatcher said, "Caller is third party, says his girlfriend called him and advised that her sister [Helen] killed her mother. Caller lives in Dallas, Texas and the girlfriend lives out of address 6708 Dean Drive. No one’s answering the phone.”
