Tysons Corner Tree Lighting: David Cook Performs, Santa Visits

American Idol's David Cook will perform at the tree lighting in Tysons Corner Friday night.

TYSONS CORNER, VA—Tysons Corner Center has a busy lineup of festivities to kick off the holiday season Friday, Nov. 17. The mall's tree lighting ceremony is set for 6:10 p.m.

The 51-foot Christmas tree will be lit at the outdoor plaza. 97.1 WASH FM’s Sabrina Conte & Chili Amar will host the event, also with a live radio broadcast by chief meteorologist Bill Kelly.

The tree lighting will lead into an acoustic performance by David Cook, the Season 7 American Idol winner and The Kintz-Mejia Academy of Ballet.

Families can also pay a visit to the Santa HQ, a digitally-enhanced experience that's more than just photos with Santa. The immersive experience sponsored by HGTV lets kids see the magic of the North Pole in 2D and 3D through the Elf-Ray Vision app. Families can download the app on their devices or use a provided tablet.

Santa will be at the mall through Christmas Eve. Reserve a time with Santa here. (If you're not on his naughty list!)
