View At Tysons Slated For Board Of Supervisors Decision
The mixed-use development would include a building taller than the Washington Monument.

TYSONS, VA — The View at Tysons, a mixed-use development proposal that could have the tallest building in the DC region, is set for a Fairfax County Board of Supervisors decision on Tuesday.
The application had been revised earlier in 2019 due to the county's concerns. According to the Washington Business Journal, the height of the 600-foot Iconic Tower raised the most concerns. The developer decreased the density of the project, but the height remained the same.
The county's Planning Commission voted on Oct. 10 to advance The View at Tysons proposal. The Business Journal reported the selling points for the Planning Commission includes talks for 1st Stage Theater to move into The View at Tysons theater space.

The Iconic Tower would be taller than the Washington Monument, which stands at 555 feet tall. The Capital One Tower, the 470-foot building that opened in 2018, is the region's tallest office building in use.
A resolution from the McLean Citizens Association criticized the building height, with one member telling the Planning Commission it could "set a precedent" for future developments.
