Woman Sentenced For Defrauding Elderly McLean Resident

Prosecutors say the woman defrauded over 50 people, including a McLean woman with cancer.

A woman was sentenced in Alexandria federal court to 15 years in prison for defrauding over 50 victims out of more than $5.4 million. Among the victims was a 71-year-old McLean woman with cancer.

Prosecutors say Keisha Williams, 43, purchased health-care software in Austria and needed short-term loans to get it out of escrow. She claimed the lenders would be quickly repaid with interest. She received at least $5.4 million.

Court documents indicated the elderly McLean victim made two wire payments totaling $95,000. Williams reportedly had an attorney prepare documents to make the payments look legal.

Williams also worked with others to impersonate federal officials to extort money, and bribed T-Mobile employees to get one extortion victim’s personal toll records.

Rather than use the money for that alleged purpose, Williams spent more than $1 million on travel for herself and her girlfriend. Prosecutors say she took trips to Bora Bora, Italy, and the Bahamas, and bought $4,000-a-night stays at the Four Seasons hotel.
